Meet Elliott Auerbach
Elliott Auerbach is an Ulster County native, born and raised in
Ellenville. He is a graduate of Hofstra University with a
Business degree in Economics. Elliott and his wife Judi have spent
the past thirty years in Ulster County; raising their three children
and pursuing their careers.
Elliott is uniquely qualified to be the countys first
comptroller. As the new comptroller, he will bring over
thirty years of experience in the public and private sectors. Perhaps
more importantly, Elliott is an outsider to county government.
He doesn't owe anyone any favors and will bring a completely fresh
viewpoint to the job of comptroller.
Elliott knows government, having served three terms as mayor of the
Village of Ellenville. He is now completing his fifth year
as village manager and chief operating officer of the village. In
this job, he does everything from creating budgets, negotiating labor
contracts, and managing dozens of employees to developing and
implementing policy and overseeing purchasing and finances.
These past five years have been economically difficult for
Ellenville, but despite this, Elliott has helped to keep tax
increases to a minimum while maintaining a fund balance of over $4,000,000.
In addition, Elliott knows how to run an enterprise, having spent
twenty years running his familys hardware business
in Ellenville. He also served as executive director and
chief financial officer of a federally-funded agency called the Rural
Economic Area Partnership in Sullivan County. Prior to
that, Elliott spent a number of years managing corporate and
private sector businesses with hundreds of employees, and millions of
dollars in revenue along the way.
Of late, Elliott has been serving the people of Ulster County as
Assistant Chairman and Assistant Secretary of the Ulster County
Industrial Development Agency and as Secretary of the Ulster County
Chamber of Commerce. |
